The PMNH has established
following Display Galleries for the visitors in order to
provide them information about natural history of
Pakistan. |

1.Bio Gallery |
|
Bio Gallery provides
information to visitors about flora and fauna of Pakistan.
This Gallery has been divided into two sections. One
section provides information about different animals,
birds and plants found in different regions
ranging from Alpine heights to Seashores of Pakistan. In
this gallery different species of animals, birds and
plants have been displayed in their natural habitat
through three-dimensional dioramas. This section is based
on eight regions and their flora and fauna i.e. Alpine
Region, Sub-Alpine Region, Coniferous forests of Kaghan,
Swat, Chitral, Dir and Galiat, Potwar Region, plains,
desert and coastal areas. |

The second section
elucidate in
problems of biodiversity of Pakistan. Three-dimensional
Dioramas in this section highlight problems of air, noise,
soil and water pollution, problems of deforestation, fire, soil erosion, problems of over-fishing, over-hunting
and over-grazing, problems of water logging, salination
and desertification. |

2.Tethys Gallery |

Tethys Gallery provides
information and visuals about |

Salt Range |
|
The Salt Range is of immense
importance from historical point of view as the age of
rocks in the area vary from 10,000 years to 550 million
years old, that is why Pakistan is called the Geological
Museum of Pakistan. In this diorama Salt Range has been
displayed showing fossil deposits, coal and salt mines and
different formations of rocks. |

Oceans |
|
In this three-dimensional
diorama marine life has been displayed. This display
exhibits on Coastal areas marine life, shallow waters marine
life, continental slope, continental shelf, coral reefs
and deep sea. |
|
Minerals and rocks |
|
In this section various
minerals and rocks found in Pakistan have been displayed in
showcases. Information about the chemical properties,
composition, deposits, and their industrial uses has been
provided through bilingual write-ups. |
|
Whale Skeleton |
|
In the centre of the Tethy
Gallery a huge skeleton of Whale has been displayed which
also carries written information about this marine mammal. |
|
3.Gemstones Gallery |
|
In this Gallery various
precious and semi-precious stones have been displayed
along with the information about their deposits in
different area of Pakistan. The displays are based on gems
in raw form as well as cut and polished forms. |

4.Eco Gallery |
|
In Eco Gallery basic
information about Earth Sciences, Zoological Sciences and
Botanical Sciences has been displayed through small
dioramas for the interest of children. Through blow-ups
different life cycles i.e. Alter Eco System, Energy Flow,
Life: Individual to Biosphere, Water Cycle, Carbon Cycle
and Nitrogen Cycle, have been displayed. In this Gallery
there is also a beautiful diorama of food chain, which
shows the dependence of different animals and plants for
food on each other. |

5.Palaeo
Gallery |
|
Palaeo Gallery of the Museum
is based on Pre-historic Wildlife of Pakistan. In this
Gallery fossils collection from all over Pakistan has been
displayed. Some of the fossils are as old as 650 million
years. The Story of Human Intelligence and Evolution has
also been narrated through fossils, paintings and
write-ups. Skeletons of Elephant and Giraffe have been
displayed in the centre of this Gallery, which enhance
grandeur of this hall. |
