Because of beautiful colours and patterns, butterflies are equally popular among children and adults are instrumental in beatification of nature.

They are source of food for insectivores and ensure the process of cross-pollination in plants. They are biological indicators and their presence signify healthy environment of that area.

Wing span of butterflies varies from few millimeters to a foot and life from few weeks to few months. Like humans, they also take care of their young ones and, therefore, lay eggs on those plants, which could provide food to the caterpillars.

The patterns and color of butterflies are due to the presence of pigments in their wings which help in reflection of light of different wavelengths. These patterns also ensure mimicry in these animals. Like other creatures they travel long distances in search of food and suitable environment
